My Flip Card Comedy Routines
I have done a lot of trade shows and events over the past 20+ years where the predominant audience members are older adults. I needed walk around gags that appealed to their sense of humor. Hmmmm....
Q: What are worries of older adults that They love to make fun of?
A: Growing older and the frustrations of new technology.
A while back I found some funny jokes going around the internet that were "reading" jokes, not "telling" jokes. So, I did what I do. I noodled, I piddled and I tweaked until I came up with a way to transform these jokes into performance pieces. I had artwork created to enhance the flip cards and they work like a charm!!!
Mild WARNING: These jokes are not absolutely strictly "G" Rated. They are not in any way shape or form "dirty" jokes. They mildly and cleverly suggest that adults occasionally do engage in unnamed, undescribed romantic activity. My experience over the years is that older adults enjoy and laugh heartily at these enhanced joke routines. These flip card routines are not laminated... but you may want to do that. I could do it, but it would cost you a lot less to handle that yourself.
The Circle of Success This routine uses 6 heavy stock printed cards and requires handling in a specific way that hides what is going to happen. Something happens half way through the routine that starts the laughter going and each successive card revelation gets the laughter going a little harder. The audience should know the end... but they forgot! And that makes them laugh harder. When you finish, the cards are completely reset.

Senior Thesis The set up for this trick is to tell the spectators that "this clowning stuff may not last, so I'm studying for a degree in computer technology. I'm almost ready to graduate but I need to finish my senior thesis. I'll show you what I'm working on and maybe you can help me come to a conclusion so I can graduate. My senior thesis is, "Are Computers Male or Female?" What follows are flip cards of alternating evidence leading to either conclusion. After many performances of this routine I have them in the perfect order, and the punchlines build on each other. Noodle, piddle, tweak... that's what I do.
